RIKKE SANDBERG

Rikke Sandberg has played solo concerts across the Nordic countries, Europe and the United States in Alice Tully Hall, Concertgebouw and Musikhalle Hamburg etc. and she has worked with names like Sabine Meyer, Phillippe Berrod, Nikolaj Znaider, Radek Barborak and Vincent Lucas and with many of the Nordic regions greatest soloists and concert masters.

She is an artistic director of Tisvilde and Langvad Classical Music Festivals and she has, in addition to her two solo CDs with works by Brahms and Rachmaninov and Anders Koppel’s Double Concerts for Piano and Saxophone with the DR Symphony Orchestra, also recorded film music for “Afgrunden” with DR The “Rebus” orchestra, “Rebus” Mad Cows Sing, “Symbiosis” with Tanja Zapolski and Liszt 2nd Piano Concert and Rachmaninoffs 2nd Piano Concert with Luxembourg Philharmonia.

Rikke Sandberg has received many of the greatest Danish prizes and scholarship, including:

  • Victor Schiølers Scholarship
  • Aenchenn and Eigil Harbys Scholarship – ”Youth’s Sonning Award”
  • Helge and Merete Finsens Scholarship

Scholarships from Wilhelm Hansen Fonden, Augustinus Fonden and Léonie Sonnings Fond and others.

Debut from The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in 2002.

Subsequent studies in New York at Nina Svetlanova and Jacob Lateiner at the Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard School.

From 2006, she worked as an assistant to Professor José Ribera at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory and has since been employed at DKDM and the South Danish Music Conservatory as a piano teacher.

She has served as a jury member in the German music competition “Jugend Musiziert” and been giving master classes for talented young pianists at the country’s MGK music schools.

Her solo cd with works by Brahms was named “the CD of the Year” in P2’s music program “Amadeus” and she was nominated as the “Classical Musician of the Year” in Politiken (newspaper).

Since the debut, she has received nothing but praise from the reviewers for her solo performances and CD recordings and, among other things, received the prestigious: The Music Critics Artists Prize.
