Carl Nielsen

There are both well-known works but also a handful of newly discovered small works that have never been recorded before. In addition, Carl Nielsen himself has arranged some of his own music for solo piano, including Dances from Alladin and selected movements from "The Mother". In the video I talk a little about the project.

It has been a natural continuation for me, after finding a 4-hand piano arrangement Carl Nielsen himself made of his 3rd symphony, Sinfonia Espansiva, in 2019. In 2023 I finally got to record it and a few other small 4-hand works by Carl Nielsen, together with pianist Kristoffer Hyldig, and the recording will be released on CD, LP and all digital streaming services on 6 September 2024 on OUR Recordings. It was amazing to find uncharted territory by our national composer and it aroused my curiosity and desire to engage much more with Carl Nielsen.

At the age of 12, I became a student of pianist Anne Øland, who at the time had made a recording of Carl Nielsen's piano works. Anne Øland was a student of Herman D Koppel who knew Carl Nielsen and also recorded his music. So even though much of the music has already been recorded a few times, also by other fine pianists, it's fun to discover new works that no one has been interested in before and add them to the collection.

This makes my recording the first complete recording of Carl Nielsen's piano works, as far as we know today, and it is scheduled for release on OUR Recordings in spring 2026, 3 CDs, recorded in the new format "Dolby Atmos" which can give the listener a 3D experience of the music.

Joining me in the Queen's Hall will be producer Preben Iwan and I am incredibly excited about this project ❤️
